Concert Choir:

Requirements: 9^th-12^th, Auditioned intermediate/Advanced Choral group.  Min. GPA 2.0, performance required

This is an auditioned senior high choir that performs and competes regularly.  All students enrolled must maintain minimum GPA of 2.0 but strongly encouraged to have 3.0.  As of Spring 2011, there are 65 singers enrolled singing various genres music ranging from Renaissance to Contemporary to American pops.  We meet regularly as a class and it fulfills the Fine Arts requirement for CSU, UC, and other four-year universities.  The audition for Fall 2011 will start in late April 2011.  You must see the director to sign up for the audition time and date.

Madrigal:

Requirement:  Enrollment in Concert Choir, Auditioned Advanced A Cappella Choir (AAA-CC), performance required

This is an auditioned senior high choir that meets for three-hour rehearsals once a week after-school.  Although it is not a regular class, strong vocal skills and commitment are required.  This group covers mostly A Cappella music ranging from Renaissance to Jazz.

Musical Phenomenon/Senior Choir:

Requirement:  9^th – 12^th

This is a non-auditioned senior high school and performs mostly show tunes and pops.  Light dancing and singing skills are recommended but not required.  This is perfect place for young singers of all levels at high school level.

Junior Choir:

Requirement:  7^th – 8^th

This is the general choir for middle school students of all vocal levels.  Although there is no audition requirement, the qualified advanced students are given the opportunity to perform in LAUSD Middle School Honor Music Program.  There are 130 students enrolled in two Junior Choirs as of Spring 2011 and we attend Disney’s Performance Program regularly.  Also, top eighth grade singer(s) is/are recognized at the Eighth Grade Culmination at the end of the year.

Junior Chamber Singers:

Requirement:  Enrollment in Junior Choir, Auditioned Advanced Middle School Choir, Performance required.

This is an auditioned, advanced choral group that performs more advanced literatures such as classical choral music and jazz.  Some A Cappella music may be introduced as well as foreign languages.  This group meets once a week for an hour after school.
