Magnet Program

Our Gifted, Highly Gifted, High Ability Magnet is an outstanding college preparatory program with high expectations for rigorous academics, robust arts, and championship athletics. Students in the Magnet Program are expected to work two levels above grade.  All Eagle Rock students in grades 7-10 take part in our International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) and complete a Personal Project during their 10th grade year. Sophomores demonstrating high achievement are encouraged to apply for our IB Diploma Programme (DP), the recommended course of study for our magnet students in 11th and 12th grade.

We also offer 18 Advanced Placement courses and our partnership with Los Angeles City College enables our students to begin their college transcripts by enrolling in one of the nine college courses held on our campus.

Students may choose from a wide variety of fine art electives as well as leadership, journalism, yearbook and seven Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathways.  We also offer multiple foreign languages, currently including Spanish, French, Arabic, and Mandarin.  Magnet students are able to compete on any of our league and city championship athletic teams.

Together all of these course offerings provide  our students with a wide range of options as they pursue their academic,  artistic, and athletic passions.  Our Magnet Program stresses a rigorous academic program with an international focus for college-prepared and career-ready scholars.
