MYP Course Outline – CHOIR

Course Title:  Choir
Course Description:
The major emphasis of this course is on developing musicianship through the study of choral music:  Students develop the ability to sing with considerable skills, accuracy, and sensitivity.  The course provides for improvement in vocal tone quality through breath support, ear training, for increased skill in sight singing, and for more highly developed aesthetic appreciation and critical judgment.  The course also provides for increased skill in ensemble singing in small and large groups, and enlarges students’ acquaintance with standard choral literature.

  • Acquire and develop skills needed for the creation of performing art work.

Choral Literature II

Students will learn to sing 10 choral literatures of various styles and 2 musical theater excerpts.  Also, students are assigned to create choreography for Broadway tunes as well as coordinating costumes.
