Course Title: Introduction to Computers
Course Description
The goal of the MYP Introduction to Computers course is to prepare students to responsibly and ethically operate microcomputers utilizing various software application programs. It includes instructions in computer operations, information systems, keyboarding techniques, word processing, multimedia presentations, spreadsheets and internet research. Students will be expected to demonstrate competency in producing, editing and enhancing a variety of academic documents using the Microsoft Office 2008 software package.  Through the application of knowledge and acquired computer operations and productivity skills, students will learn how to independently locate, organize, integrate and create information. Students will gain essential skills for independent lifelong learning, critical thinking, problem solving, as well as strategies for the higher-order thinking necessary to view interdisciplinary connections for 21st century learning in a global context.
