Congratulations to the boys' tennis team which finished its season with a school record at Number Two in the top division in Los Angeles. The Eagles defeated Narbonne in the quarterfinals and Van Nuys in the semifinals before surrendering to defending champ and number one seeded Palisades in the finals. All team members contributed to this historic season, including Kevin Parducho, Eric Kim, Gary Fung, Daniel Jong, Adnan Ansar, Aaron Alcaraz, James Wong, William Thi, Robert Minick, Khim Chea, and Kirsean Carabeo. Great job, Eagles!

Congratulations to the second-ranked boys' tennis team who reached the L.A. City Tennis Finals with a 22 1/2 to 7 win over Van Nuys on Tuesday, May 11th at ERHS. This marks the first time in school history that any team has made it to the City Championship (top tier) game. All varsity members, including Kevin Parducho, Eric Kim, Gary Fung, Khim Chea, Adnan Ansar, Aaron Alcaraz, William Thi, Robert Minick, Daniel Jong, and James Wong contributed points in the win. Good luck to the team as it takes on #1 Palisades on Thursday, May 13th at Balboa Park at 1 PM.

Congratulations to the number two-seeded boys' tennis team who defeated number seven Narbonne High School on Wednesday, May 5th, by a score of 23 1/2 to 6. The team was led by Kevin Parducho, Eric Kim, Gary Fung, Khim Chea, Adnan Ansar, Aaron Alcaraz, William Thi, Robert Minick, Daniel Jong, and James Wong. Each player contributed in this well-rounded victory. The team next faces #3 seed Van Nuys on Tuesday, May 11th, at 1 PM at ERHS.

Congratulations to the boys' tennis team who defeated Marshall for the second time this season to clinch the Northern League title for the ninth consecutive time. Two days later, the Eagles won the Hal Stepteau Invitational, a four-team tournament hosted at ERHS, for the fourth consecutive time. The Eagles were led by Kevin Parducho, Gary Fung, William Thi, Khim Chea, Daniel Jong, Kirsean Carabeo, Adnan Ansar, James Wong, Robert Minick, Aaron Alcaraz, Trevor Nelson, John Roferos, Christian Flores, and Kenneth Li. Congratulations to the boys' tennis team who defeated Marshall on Thursday by a score of 6 to 1. The Eagles were led by Kevin Parducho, Eric Kim, Merlin Costales, William Thi, Adnan Ansar, Aaron Alcaraz, James Wong, Robert Minick, Khim Chea, and Kirsean Carabeo. The Eagles are now 5-1 this season and number one in the Northern League, having beaten Birmingham, Taft, Venice, and Carson, as well as Marshall. The number two-seeded boys' tennis team ended its season with a heart-breaking 14.5 to 15 defeat at the hands of number three Granada Hills in the City Semifinals. The Eagles held match points in two matches and saved several others in the thrilling, four-hour round-robin battle at Balboa Park on May 12th. Every varsity player on the team, including Kevin Parducho, Eric Kim, Zach Wilson, William Thi, Coleman Hindes, James Wong, Chris Simpson, Adnan Ansar, Gary Fung, and Phillip Nguyen, contributed with wins in the last match. The Eagles (14-1) finished their season with their eighth straight Northern League title (undefeated all eight years) and as the number three team in Los Angeles. Congratulations, Eagles!

The boys' tennis team moved to 14-0 with a 24 to 5.5 win over Cleveland High School on May 6th in the City Quarterfinals. The Eagles were led by Kevin Parducho, Eric Kim, Zach Wilson, William Thi, Coleman Hindes, James Wong, Chris Simpson, Adnan Ansar, Gary Fung, and Phil Nguyen. Most impressive were William, Chris, Adnan, Gary, and Phil who swept their matches, going undefeated that day. The #2-seeded Eagles will now play #3 Granada Hills in the City Semifinals on May 12th at Balboa Park.

The boys tennis team finished its season by defeating Belmont, 7-0, to clinch a perfect season. The team has won the Northern League title for the eighth straight year and heads to playoffs as one of the top three teams in L.A. A special good luck goes to three players -- Coleman Hindes, Chris Simpson, and Eric Kim -- who will represent the L.A. City Section at the Ojai Valley Tennis Tournament on April 23rd. The boys tennis team was one of three schools to represent the LA City Section at the California High School Classic in Fresno on March 6-7. The team place second in its group, winning four of six matches and 16 of 18 doubles matches. The team was led by Kevin Parducho, Eric Kim, Merlin Costales, Zach Wilson, Gary Fung, Coleman Hindes, James Wong, Chris Simpson, Adnan Ansar, Phil Nguyen, and William Thi. The Eagles followed up their successful Fresno trip with a 7-0 win over Banning on March 9th.

Seeded third in Los Angeles behind Taft and Palisades, the Eagle Rock High boys' tennis team defeated sixth-seeded Granada Hills in the City Quarterfinals by a score of 20 to 9.5. Truly a team effort, every one of the ten varsity members (including Joseph Valentino, JC Leonardo, Kevin Parducho, Eric Kim, Irving Martinez, Paolo Morato, Bevis Tran, Ramon DeVilla, Fernando Ortega, and Coleman Hindes) contributed points in this victory. This marks the fifth time in the last seven years that the team has earned a berth in the final four in L.A. The boys' tennis team finished its season by winning the Sixth Annual Hal Stepteau/Eagle Rock Invitational for the fourth time, defeating both Sylmar and Venice by a score of 7-0. The Eagles followed that up by winning their last league game, 7-0, over Wilson to go undefeated in the Northern League for the seventh straight year. The Eagles were led by Joseph Valentino, JC Leonardo, Irving Martinez, Kevin Parducho, Bevis Tran, Ramon DeVilla, Fernando Ortega, Paolo Morato, Coleman Hindes and Eric Kim. Other Eagles who stepped up from JV to win included Andrew Quintos, Paskorn Thummawan, Gary Fung, and Merlin Costales. Good luck to the team as it heads into playoffs next week.

The Eagle Rock High Boys' Tennis Team moved to 6-1 this week with 7-0 wins over Franklin and Venice High Schools. The Eagles were led by Joseph Valentino, J.C. Joseph Valentino had an especially good win over Venice's number one which will qualify Joseph to be seeded as one of the top eight players in Los Angeles. The boys' tennis team defended its number four status in L.A.City when it defeated number five Carson High today in a five-hour marathon in the Championship Divsion of the boys' tennis playoffs by a score of 15 to 14 1/2. The Eagles were led by their number one and two doubles teams, Jean Laureta, Bevis Tran, Irving Martinez, and Coleman Hindes, who swept each opposing team in the round robin playoff format. The number three doubles team of Chris Gonzales and Paolo Morato won two out of three sets. The Eagles also had stand-out performances by singles players, Ramon DeVilla, J.C. Leonardo, and Joseph Valentino. Valentino clinched for the team by winning the last of 25 sets played that day. Next, the team will take on City #1 Palisades High on May 9th at 1:00 PM at Balboa park. Congratulations, Eagle tennis players!!!

This marks the eleventh straight win over the Barristers, who were especially talented this year. Winning varsity players included Joseph Valentino, J.C.
