![]() Mr. Brombach's Home PageRoles: I am currently the 9th grade Lead teacher, WASC co-lead for Assessment and Accountability, and on the ILT (school leadership team). I also teach 8th grade physical science, biology and marine biology. Education: I am a graduate of Evergreen State College in Biological Sciences and Claremont University with a Masters Degree in Secondary Education. Teaching Pedagogy: I use a Standards based curriculum. Lesson topics are driven by current National and State standards. I use IB criteria to determine student activities. Students use the activities to gain skills as well as knowledge. Formative assessments are questions (written and oral), quizzes, and refections. Formative assessments provide feedback to both students and my self on strengths and weakness in students knowledge and skills and can be retaken as as students improve. I use a Project/portfolio based summative assessments for students demonstration their of level of mastery. In the summative assessment students must include the application of the cumulative knowledge and skills to their life. Room environment requires to students to adhere to safe physical and learning practices. Each day students are first introduced to knowledge and skills as individuals or partners. Students then gain understanding in groups as they work on knowledge and skills. Finally all students are individually assessed either by self reflection, peer review or by myself. Grades are bases on student work. A's are outstanding work more than what is asked for- like extra credit. B's work is done well and full understanding of skills and knowledge. C's work is done and most skills and knowledge are met. D's work is done but only some skills and knowledge are met. F's work is not done and/or few skills and knowledge are met. |
